12 WAYS OF CHRISTMAS

1. Mix'n'match IF you're struggling to pick one particular look, go eclectic with different shapes, styles and shades. A plain white tablecloth is the perfect blank canvas and keeps things looking neat. WE USED: Festive mix napkins pounds 12 for 4, mini crackers pounds 8 for 6, star cake stand pounds 25 (www.johnlewis.com, 08456 049 049) 2. Frosty reception THIS blue table runner looks ice-cool teamed with silver and white. Go for contemporary glasses and white crockery to keep things slick and modern. Silver crackers and cutlery add to the frosty feel. WE USED: Silver tablecloth pounds 7.47, Teal sequin table runner pounds 5.97 (www.wilkinsonplus.co.uk, 0845 608 0807) 3. Contemporary cool THIS slick silver crockery will add instant sparkle to any dining table and looks fantastic on monochrome fabrics. It's ultra-modern so add brightly-coloured crackers to stop it looking too severe. WE USED: Silver metallic stripe runner pounds 7, silver metallic placements pounds 3 for 2, silver glamour crockery from pounds 3 (www.matalan.co.uk, 0845 330 3330) 4. Scandi style GO Nordic with a fresh red and white scheme. Less is more with this look so keep the tabletop clear of clutter and choose unfussy decorations. If you add accessories go for natural materials such as wood and make sure they are in simple shapes. WE USED: Something magical crackers pounds 18 and napkins pounds 3 for 20 (www.talkingtables.co.uk, 020 7627 6767) 5. Bling it up WE all love a bit of glitter at Christmas and table jewels are a fantastic way to add some sparkle. Scatter them over the whole table or limit them to the runner for a stylised look. WE USED: Table jewels pounds 10 (www.debenhams.com, 0844 561 6161), Christmas tree candles pounds 8, silver premium crackers pounds 15 (www.asda.co.uk, 0500 100 055) 6. Bold is beautiful THE clashing colours of the bright red glasses are a daring twist on this season's hottest colour... purple. But don't go overboard. Stick with white plates and matching fabrics to make it bold, rather than brash. WE USED: Faux silk tablecloth pounds 7.99, Mocca table runner pounds 9.99, wine glasses from pounds 2.99 (www.dunelm-mill.com, 08451 656565) 7. Black plates add a cool, contemporary edge when layered with white and green. WE USED: Candle holders from pounds 9.99, black plates from pounds 2.99 (www.homesense.com, 0800 328 2601) 9.
